The drum of the drum dryer is a slightly inclined and rotatable cylinder. Wet materials enter from the upper part of one end, and dry materials are collected from the lower part of the other end. The cylinder is equipped with a forward lifting plate, which allows the material to be continuously lifted and dropped during the rotation of the cylinder, so that it can fully contact the hot air flow to improve the drying efficiency and move the material forward. The heat source for drying materials is generally hot air, high-temperature flue gas, water vapor, etc.
Mechanical characteristics
High Thermal Efficiency Since the dryer uses heat conduction, the heat transfer direction remains basically the same throughout the heat transfer cycle. Therefore, most of the heat supplied in the drum is used to vaporize the moisture of the material, and the thermal efficiency reaches 80% to 90%. The heat transfer and mass transfer process of the wet material film on the wall of the large drying cylinder is from the inside to the outside, in the same direction, and the temperature gradient is large, so that the surface of the material film maintains a high evaporation intensity, generally up to 30 ~ 70 kg/(㎡ .h). Stable drying quality: Because the heating method is easy to control, the temperature inside the cylinder and the heat transfer rate of the partition wall can remain relatively stable, so that the material film is dried in a heat transfer state, and the quality of the product can be guaranteed. However, the drum dryer also has its shortcomings, mainly including: due to the high surface humidity of the drum, some products will be overheated, which will damage the flavor or show abnormal color. In addition, if a vacuum dryer is used, the cost is high and it is only suitable for processing materials with very high heat sensitivity.
